Most bright, steady points that do not twinkle are planets — usually Venus, Jupiter, Mars, or Saturn. Anything blinking or moving quickly is aircraft or a satellite.
Stars twinkle because their light arrives as a near-point source and the atmosphere bends it constantly. Planets present a tiny disc instead, so their light averages out and holds steady.
Venus is the brightest, always near sunrise or sunset. Jupiter is bright and can sit high in the middle of the night. Mars looks distinctly orange. Saturn is fainter and steady yellow-white.
