Why does the sky appear to move?
The short answer, then a view where you can watch it happen.
Because you are standing on a planet that turns east roughly once a day. The sky is close to fixed; your horizon is what sweeps past it.
Earth rotates eastward, so objects appear to rise in the east, cross the sky, and set in the west. This apparent motion is about 15 degrees per hour.
That is the dominant hour-to-hour motion. Slower changes — the Sun's path shifting through the year, the Moon rising later each night, the planets wandering — come from orbital motion layered on top.
Once you can switch between watching Earth turn from outside and riding along with it, the confusing part disappears: nothing in the sky is racing anywhere.
